Letโ€™s Talk Periods.

Bleeding that occurs as a part of womenโ€™s monthly cycles during their reproductive years. The average time women can menstruate in a monthly cycle is about 3 to 5 days. It is normal. Not a taboo and definitely not a curse. PMS. Premenstrual Syndrome. Emotional and physical symptoms that regularly occur before a womanโ€™s period. It is not really something that should goofed about. PMS-ing can cause severe mood swings, irritability or even depression. . . ๐‘พ๐’‰๐’š ๐’˜๐’† ๐’”๐’‰๐’๐’–๐’๐’… ๐’Œ๐’๐’๐’˜: Stigma of menstruation is perpetrated by cultural taboos, discrimination, lack of education, silence and period poverty (the inability to access/afford hygiene products). Normalising Periods can help reduce such propagations. The physical toll is equally painful as the mental affliction caused by the misinformations and mistreatments. Survey conducted by the UN WOMEN says, lack of availability, accessibility and knowledge of menstrual hygiene products like tampons, menstrual cups, sanitary napkins, etc leaves a majority of rural women and girls to resort to newspapers, toilet paper, clothes, rags and even plastic bags in some cases. And the kind of pain caused by the headaches, cramps, stomach aches is immeasurable. . . ๐‘พ๐’‰๐’‚๐’• ๐’˜๐’† ๐’”๐’‰๐’๐’–๐’๐’… ๐’…๐’: End the hesitation around Menstruation. The stigma over periods wonโ€™t end until people are educated about them. It does not have to be masked with words like Lady Business, Girl Flu, Bloody Mary, Mahine ka woh din, Code Red. People should understand that it is nothing to be embarrassed or hesitant about. A Period is a Period is a Period. Period. . . ๐‘พ๐’‰๐’‚๐’• ๐’˜๐’† ๐’„๐’‚๐’ ๐’…๐’: ๐‘ซ๐’๐’๐’‚๐’•๐’†: Donate your time to understand the importance of the subject, and help educate the ignorant. ๐‘ซ๐’๐’๐’‚๐’•๐’†: โ€˜Stop the Spotโ€™ Initiative by Snapdeal. https://www.snapdeal.com/offers/stop-the-spot Binti Period. https://bintiperiod.org/ PAD Bank- TEE Foundation. https://teefoundation.in/pb/ Give India Org. https://www.giveindia.org/program/Help-poor-women-get-access-to-sanitary-pads Donate Kart. https://www.donatekart.com/special/MHP/Menstrual-Hygiene-Project Goonj Org. https://goonj.org/njpc/ Milaap Org. https://milaap.org/fundraisers/WomenofCourage Myna Mahila Foundation. https://mynamahila.com/ The Pad Project. https://thepadproject.org/ Here are a few ๐‘ช๐’‰๐’‚๐’“๐’Š๐’•๐’Š๐’†๐’” which work around providing sanitary/menstrual products to underprivileged girls and women. ๐‘พ๐’๐’Ž๐’‚๐’, reading this; It is not easy to discern what it is to have your insides pouring out of you like rain that floods you with torment.

It is not easy to discern how you manage to buoyantly sail through all that pain.

It is not easy to discern how you choose to comprehend the fact that the torrent is going to return to inflict you yet another time.

It is not easy to discern, I can only imagine the depressive episodes you have to experience.

It is not easy to discern how you are always set to face the inevitable fall knowing the trauma it can cause.

It is not that easy.

There are not enough words to tell you how resilient and courageous you are.

You have to know that Iโ€™m very proud of you and I can only imagine how difficult it is to go through so much pain every so often. You are a Soldier. Much Respect.

๐’€๐’๐’–, reading this. Iโ€™m proud of you too. Not everyone will show such concern and diligence to read through. You are one of a kind. Much Respect.
